KEN BUCHAN AI — SHOWREEL — SYDNEY — ROLLING

Thirty years directing
ad campaigns.
Now I direct the machines.

I'm Ken Buchan, a Creative Director who's spent thirty years turning real material into story — campaigns for Optus, ANZ, Singapore Airlines and BIG W, CGI battle sequences for the Sir John Monash Centre, animated history for Old Parliament House and the National Gallery of Australia, narration for Canon's Tales by Light on Netflix. I'm now using that same instinct, and the same craft discipline, to make AI tools nail film, character, comedy and strategy — brief first, gimmick never.

Four ways I've put AI to work

Not a demo reel of prompts. Four running productions, each with its own brief, cast and continuity rules.

01
DRAMA

The Voice

Short film · writer / director

A young woman tries to escape the voice that broke her heart, only to learn the only way out is within earshot. A serious five-act drama carried entirely by AI performance — which meant locking every character's face, wardrobe and voice treatment scene to scene, the same continuity discipline a live set demands.

02
SERIES

Go Figure

Faceless YouTube channel · creator

"Discover Why" — curiosity questions an eleven‑year‑old would ask and never get a straight answer to. Every script is built to a formula (wrong assumption, surprising reality, the science, one more twist) and every topic is keyword‑researched before a frame is generated, so the channel is run like a media property, not a content mill.

03
CHARACTER

Fur Coat Society

Instagram comedy series · creator & talent

Me, in a fur coat, dropped into places a fur coat has no business being. The gag only works if the character holds — same face, same coat, same deadpan — across a locked Higgsfield character profile, with each sequence arcing from unsettling competence to small kindness to effortless cool, never one flat joke.

04
STRATEGY

Blueprint

Brand & marketing audit tool · built for KBC clients

The part of this page that isn't video. Blueprint assesses a company or brand and hands back real marketing and advertising recommendations — the strategic groundwork I'd normally bill a discovery phase for, now instrumented so every client engagement starts from a position, not a blank page.

Why it holds together

AI is the crew. The craft is still mine.

Same rules I'd give a live production, applied to a synthetic one.

Rule 01

Strategy before tactics

Nothing gets generated until the brief is right. Blueprint exists because the thinking has to come first, tool or no tool.

Rule 02

Continuity is non-negotiable

A character who changes face between scenes breaks the illusion. Every series here runs on a locked, documented character build.

Rule 03

Built to be watched twice

A joke, a twist or a reveal has to survive a second viewing. AI makes the frame faster to produce, not the idea easier to skip.

Let's talk

Want this run on your brand?

This is the working proof behind Ken Buchan Creative's AI production and strategy offer — for brands who want the speed of AI tooling without losing the discipline of a proper creative process.
